Speaking up for yourself can be hard when you’re in grade school.

But self-advocacy is an important skill for kids with written expression disorder. Here are practical sentence starters to foster self-advocacy:

"Can I show what I know differently?"

"Can I have a bit more time?"

"Can I get help with the right words?"

"Can I be graded on ideas, not grammar?"
