Our Story

Learning for All began the way many journeys do, with a worried parent trying to help their child. My middle son was bright, curious, and full of potential, but behind that spark, he was struggling. School was becoming harder each year. We were told to “wait and see.” Some concerns were dismissed. Other times we received answers that didn’t quite fit and we tried therapies that didn’t move the needle. Meanwhile, his confidence quietly slipped away. By the time he approached middle school, he was significantly behind in reading and writing. What looked like a learning gap had become a full-blown crisis — not just academically, but emotionally.
Bright But Struggling

A Champion for My Child
When we finally received clarity — dyslexia, ADHD, and auditory processing disorder — everything made sense and everything changed. I made the difficult decision to step away from my university teaching position so I could focus on helping him full time. I trained in an Orton-Gillingham based approach to remediate dyslexia, determined to give him the support he had always needed. Slowly, things began to shift. He started making real progress. Reading became less overwhelming and writing became possible. But even more powerful than the academic growth, was the return of his confidence, the piece that was not measurable on tests but could be seen by many. For the first time in years, he began to believe in himself again.

Determined To Help Others
Like many learners with his profile, the journey wasn’t quick or easy. It required persistence, patience, and a tremendous amount of hard work, from both of us. That experience changed the course of his life and it also changed mine. Learning for All was born from that season. What started in my home, in 2015, has now grown to serving learners of all ages, in San Diego and globally. Learning for All was developed from the deep understanding of what it feels like to sit at the kitchen table wondering how to help your child, and from the unwavering belief that with the right support, every learner can thrive.
"He was finally learning HOW to learn."
